I am setting up my CAR-16 for my son to shoot and want to know what carry handle scope to get. I have seen several 4X21 (Colt Copies) on the market, anyone know which one is ok. Or am I wasting my time with these? Leapers are 35-40.00. NCStar is a little more, but I think it is a 4X28. Florida gun works has one on there site for around 60.00.

Would I be better off with a forward mounted red dot scope? Preciate it.

LOL, Im sure youve probably figured out what to do by now. Most COlt copies are OK, but if you can find an original in good condition youd be better off.

I think ADCO or Tasco or someone like that makes a red dot type optic that attaches to the carry handle for like $60. Post this in the General AR forum and you are sure to get alot more helpful posts. HOPE HE HAS FUN!

I've had the COLT and the knock offs. Not noticeably brighter or dimmer than the other. Clarity and exit pupil is what you want. If you have the right exit pupil for the glass diameter you get optimum light transfer. The COLT and its clones are optimised. If they made one with a rail mount I'd use one.

Tapco has rail mount adapters that fit the carry handle mounts. I don't know about the quality or if anyone else manufactures one.
