I bought a A.R.M.S. #40 STD. A2 BUIS when I spent way too much on my gun about 4 months ago. I thought it would be cool to have for a few reasons: 1- you never see BUIS' very often, 2- you never see the A.R.M.S. products EVER (until recently, looks like I started a cult following with ARMS stuff :D ) and 3- if my AImpoint battery ever died, I wouldnt want my range stay to come to a close early.
Anyway, onto the sight itself.
The ARMS $40 is a sping released back up sight with the standard 0-200m and 200+ apreture of the M16 series and is the same HOB (hight over bore) as the detachable carry handle's sight which is about .40" higher than the standard A2 sight.
Unlike every other BUIS that must be pushed into position, the ARMS has a spring lever that when you pull the lever back, a spring pulls the sight up into position instently. This is better because if it ever hits a branch, it wont go down and stay down, it pops right back up, plus its faster.
It is elevation fixed for 300 meters (besides, how many of us actually use the elevation knob on the A2 sight? All elevation is supposed to be with the front sight) but has a windage knob on the left side which I think is a plus so you can adjust the sight without taking your eyes off the target, but just as many people hate it, prefering it on the right like the std sights, so its up to you. It also has the windage lines laser etched in white so making adjustments is easy on the eyes!
The BUIS attaches to the rail with a single nut and I recommend blue Loc Tite on it as it tends to come loose. Since it is long (taking up about 2 slots plus all the room from the last slot to the charghing handle) Optics should be mounted at least 2 slots forward to allow clearance of the BUIS. In my case (I have an Aimpoint) I must mount it 5 slots forward to allow clearance when the BUIS is up.
It is very well made and anodized in an attractive OD Green that goes well with the flat black of the rifle.
This sight sells for $95, with the Low profile version selling for $110. I think it is worth every penny, especially since the next best BUIS (GGG MAD) sells for no less than $120.
Rating; 5 out of 5
