Broken Charging Handle?

I noticed a small hairline crack along the rear of my charging handle. Is this normal for an AR? It still feels solid however I'm worried that it may eventually break off all together. I'm not too worried though since I can just go buy a new one for $20 bucks or whatever it costs, I just thought it is kind of weird for a new AR with less than 500rds through it to have this already. By the way, its an Olympic Arms. Does anyone know if their warrenty covers something like this? I will try and get a picture up soon.

I would think their warrenty would cover it. It's not normal for charging handles to do anythign but bend, and that even rare. They are under no stress. Only time they have any strain is when you pull it. Call Oly up and see what they say.

never happened with me either... shoot I had to tug on mine HARD tonight because the bolt got stuck for a reason that I'd not like to get into.... ohhhh I want to hurt my friend bad .... anyways.. vengence can wait :D.... but.. I tugged on that thing and finally it gave after smacking my buttstock against my deck while pulling on it... (thanks 308! for the tip) .. no cracks or nothing... thats about the most extreme use I've ever seen a charging handle get and theres nothing wrong with it... so thats gotta be a faulty part...

I'd call them.. warranty SHOULD cover it...

Oly is going to replace it. They said they havent seen anything like it so I guess I just got a factory defective one. I will try to post pics again, I uploaded to yahoo but for some reason they dont show up. Let me know if you guys can see the pics.

you should be able to see the crack near the base of the handle.

i have never once seen anything like that.... thats good they're gonna replace it....
