View Full Version : Curing my CZ-52's ills. Suggestions?

After searching for a couple months on the Internet, pawn shops, and finally the Dallas Gun show recently, I gave up trying to find a Tokarev and bought a CZ-52 instead.

The pistol really is in great shape, but it does have some flaws that I'm hoping folks here may know how to correct.

1) The plastic handles don't fit my hand very well. Are the hard wood ones that you can buy and better (rounder...not as flat)? If so, any suggestions on the best place to buy a set from? To me, $45 or so for a little bit of wood is a lot to ask, but if that's the way it has to be then....

2) The trigger pull isn't exactly up to snuff! Any suggestions here? I've seen replacement fireing pins with springs that claim to help out. Any truth to this? Anyone know the best place to buy an upgrade from?

Maybe I'm just expecting too much from my $99 CZ52, but I'd like to improve it to be the best it can be if it is reasonably inexpensive.

Thanks!

1) The grip of the CZ52 is a bit "deep" for me, from frontstrap to backstrap. I put a set of wood grip panels on it and they made all the difference in the world. I would recommend them.

2) The Harrington replacement firing pins do improve trigger pull to a degree, and are a good investment. You just have to decide which model to buy.

Do NOT dry fire the weapon as the CZ firing pins are quite brittle and break easily. Ask me how I know this.

On of the forum member is making custom colored CZ52 grips - do a search - his name is Zee.

Thanks for the feedback.

One question on the Harrington upgrade though...

I read somewhere that converting this breaks the safety in some form. In short, it turned the safety into a trigger by moving the safety to the top position (which normally released the hammer onto the block...but with the Harrington unit, the block no longer functions).

Do you have the Harrington unit installed? If so, did it break the safety?

THANKS!
