Just got off the phone with CDNN.

Looks like EAA sold their import permits to Remington.
Remington is only importing the non-saiga shotguns.
They are NOT importing the Saiga Rifles or the Saiga shotguns.
It will be 6 to 8 months before another importer can get the permit to import the saiga's.

I just paid $260 delievered for a 223 saiga.
CDNN is out of them.
I picked mine up from a guy that list on gunbroker.

Great, and I was told that someone was supposed to be importing a saiga with some type of folder this month. I really wanted an Ak103 with the folder.

I think this was hashed over on another thread. My understanding was that Remington bought the BAIKAL line for import and not the SAIGA line. The BAIKAL stuff was the more traditional shotguns. Check the link below and read down to the middle section. EAA talks about some new SAIGA's coming in like it was business as normal.

Hoot, I spoke to the head guy at CDNN today for about 1/2 hour.
There was one import permit that contained the BAIKAL and SAIGA.
That permit was purchased by Remington. From what he said, another importer will have to apply for new permits and it will take 6 to 8 months before more arrive.

Also CDNN had listed HIGH CAP saiga mags in the current catalog, but they were informed by EAA that those are on hold because of the import issues.

I am not trying to drive up the price, or piss on anyone's parade.
I just want anyone that is on the fence on getting one to go ahead and get one now.
I know there is a local show towards the end of this month, I WILL purchase a Saiga 12.

The supplier I got my 223 from said he had only a couple of them, also CDNN said they only had the 308's left.

Also, the section on EAA is from November, so it is 2 months old.
CDNN has move a bunch of Saigas. I think that it everything is normal, then they would have more Saiga's or atleast have a idea on when they might arrive.

On high cap mags.. you can modify the regular mags to fit and then add a feed ramp.
Do a search there are lots of threads on this.

I am gonna strip the saiga down, weld up the holes, pull the barrel, turn the barrel down to krink profile, reinstall , and the put all the stuff on it.
I was thinking of making a ak74M style krink with the optic rail and in 223

Over at the Saiga-12 forumns, they said they got an email directly from EAA that they are no longer importing any IZMASH made rifle or shotgun.

A Pity. They were great if you wished to do the conversion yourself. A real bargain at $179. But I guess EAA may have not been making any money. I wonder if the weaking of the US dollar is to blame.

You are probably right then if what you say is true. I know the Russians have played the shop around game once the import permits expire. B-West imported SAIGA's before EAA picked them up. Remington must have flashed the most cash because I highly doubt EAA was losing any money on these rifles as everyone imported got sold direct or through a clearing house like CDNN.

I am glad that I got my saiga in .223 when I did. I got it just a week or two ago and did not go in to buy one but saw it and liked the price and the quality is a lot nicer than the romanian stuff. All the goodies to convert it are on order. Can't wait to operate! :cupjoe: What stinks is I was thinking about one in 7.62x39.

That just sucks. I guess Remington is too PC to bring the Saigas in. Bummer.

Not a PC issue, just that it does not fit Remington's line of what it markets. I am sure Remington will move more BAIKAL stuff for IZHMASH than EAA ever did for both BAIKAL and SAIGA models.

Hey Hopster,

Just wonderingt, have you measured the 7.62 SAIGA barrel at the gas port and FSB area's? Wonder it they are standard AKM/AK-74 measurement? Thanks for any information

My local Wal-mart has had Spartan O/U and single shot 12ga shotguns in stock for over a month. EAA could never even get their foot in the door at Wal-mart much less sell them any guns.

B-west imported one lot of Saiga 7.62x39mm rifles in 1994. Big Bear imported one lot of Saiga 410 shotguns in 1995. Klashnikov-USA imported Saiga's for a couple of years before EAA started importig them.

So the question is, WHERE DO I BUY MY SAIGA-12!?!

CDNN has Saiga 12s with the adjustable rear sights for $229 with free shipping. I just bought a couple this afternoon and Tommy said they are going fast with the free shipping. They had about 100 at 4:00 this afternoon.

They still have some .410s for $149 shipped.

If anyone is thinking about getting a Saiga shotgun, now is the time -- free shipping.

Just wondering:
Can the saiga 12's be modded to accept AK stocks, pistol grips, foregrips and high cap mags ?

Yup! :D As to how, I will let you do the digging on that. Use the search link above and type in a few keyword, it works wonders.

I picked a new in the wrapper 30 round 7.62 Saiga mag at the Amarillo TX gunshow in December for 35$. The dealer indicated that he had sold abour 30 of these. So there mustbe some in the country.

I am not willing to pay$40 bucks for an AK mag period. My feed ramp is on order with my brand new $14 35rd galil mags and I already have some 5.45 mags laying around I am going to convert. The only hi cap saiga mags I would spend that much money on would be to .308 but I would still think about sending it to krebs for the m-14 mag conversion. :cupjoe:

Who did your conversion. I have a .308 that needs converting

The guy who did my conversion is Justin. A fellow member here on the boards. His screen name is:

A real stand up guy. You would have to ship your rifle to him seeing as he, like me, is all the way out here in AZ. Quite a distance to drive to get your .308 converted :D
