Okay. There is a pawn shop that I always do my non C&R transfers through, he only charges $15, and for me he charges even less if I order more than one gun. I've never bought anything from him, but he treats me right. Now that saiga-12 guns are drying up I want to get one now while I have a chance. I called CDNN, the FFL they have on file for him expired so even if he sent it out, they may not get the FFL for a while and they may be all gone by then.
So I call him (the pawn shop) up because I know he used to carry some of the 7.62X39 and .308 saiga sporter rifles. He said he has one Saiga-12 shotgun in stock, he says its camo stock, he says I can have it for $300.
Now on one hand, camo stock looks like ass, but I can strip that off and paint it black or whatever so thats not a issue to me. I know the camo stock guns went for $200, but they're not available anymore. I Know CDNN has saiga-12s for $230 shipped, but they only sell to FFL.
If he didn't have one in stock, i'd have to ask him to order me one, and probably pay a markup since he's ordering it and not just doing the transfer. But since he has one in stock I'm thinking I should jump on this before it's too late. He says he'll hold it for me till monday. Now I figure I'd be paying $245 at LEAST (cost of gun plus FFL transfer) best case scenerio. Now I just want to know, given the circumstances should I poney up the extra $55 and buy?
On one hand, I don't know when i'll get a chance to own one of these again, and for how much. Also We all talk about supporting small gun shops, and even though the guy is a pawn shop. half of the store is guns. He always has some AK or other military rifle in stock, he never looks down on me for buying an AK or other military rifle, he's never given me shit or been rude.
So do you guys think it's out of line to pay $300 for a Saiga-12 (regardless of the camo ones selling for less, since they're off the market its a moot point)
