custom barrels ???

I called olympic to order a barrel and they said they were made different than everyone elses so it wouldn't work on my receiver. has anyone else had this problem? if they are different they cannot be a govt contractor if their parts are out of spec. maybe they are just full of :bull: and want to sell me a complete upper half.

the guy asked what receiver i was using and i told him it was a colt "i picked up 5 of the old m16 no forward assist ones on one of the auctions" and he said they weren't compatable. can't figure out why they wouldn't be? i hate to try and buy one though and it be wrong. has anyone rebarreled using their receivers and or barrels to a different manufacture?? tia
