After a lot of searching, I finally purchased my first AR. I had been debating on ording one from Aimsurplus (M4/A2) but wasn't real enthused about waiting 4 to 6 weeks. So, today I went to a Gun Show, mainly looking for a certain transfer dealer to discuss the Aim Surplus purchase. While browsing the wares, I saw the same AR that Aim sells, but the guy wanted $1250 for it. I kept looking and found a guy selling them for $850. That was $30 more than I would pay if I ordered in (rifle + shipping + transfer), but the ability to walk out the door with it overpowered the $30 savings.

So, now I am a happy owner of a XM-15-ES2

As I was talking to the guy selling the rifle (someone who actually lives close to where I grew up), he told me that a lot of dealers at the show couldn't believe he wasn't jacking up his price because of high demand. He told me that although he might not make a lot on the sale of the rifle to me, he was banking on establishing a relationship and growing his business through being fair with the customer and not price gouging them. A great guy to deal with and most likely will continue looking to him first.

Finally, I am extremely happy to join the illustrious group of Bushmaster owners!
My family so far:
1 Saiga 7.62x39
1 Saiga .223
1 Smith and Wesson .30-06
1 real old .25-20 (can't remember the make)
1 Xm15-ES2

Soon to add 1 M1 Garand.

Congrats on the new rifle. Did you buy a post ban config, or a no-ban config? I dont think bushmaster changed their model numbers which is rather odd I think. Leaves a lot of confusion.

These rifles will teach you MANY things that most people forget. Basic principles of shooting. The A2 is an awesome choice for a first AR. I just converted my A2 over to an A3 and added an ACOG to it, but I still have a soft spot for A2's. I may build another one eventually just to have it. Congrats again on the rifle. Stick around, post pics of your rifle, or just hang out. Good group of people here always willing to help when they can. :)

I got the non-ban configuration. I won't be able to shoot it until next weekend at the earliest. Sometimes winter really sucks!

Congrats on your new Bushy purchase!!! Getting one at a gun show is not really a bad idea because not only do you get a chance to handle the firearm, if you can get the price reasonable, you get to take it home immediately and fondle it some more! :D At our gun show last weekend, it was an AR fest, with all the specialty places here (Model 1, J&T, and others) plus Rock River. Just about every dealer at the show had an AR or three.

Enjoy your new addition!!!
