They dropped the 7.62x39 conversion & belt-fed conversion. That killed it for me.

I have a feeling that they are having quality issues with the .223 M96 which is keeping them from developing other calibers. I just received another recall notice on mine, something about if I don't get my disconnector replaced, it could cause the end of the solar system, or something horrible like that. So far that makes a new gas piston/operating rod, a modified bolt carrier, and now a replacement disconnector.
Too bad, it's a great shooting rifle, but according to the recall notice, I must not shoot it until it is repaired, lest it cause severe damage! I wish they would shoot the lawyer that wrote the recall notice and just explain the problem!

Later in the evening......I just got off the phone with BJ at Robinson. It seems that they are upgrading the trigger parts because there are some people that don't read the manual that states not to rack the bolt when the hammer has been released and the safety is on. After speaking to him, I look forward to the upgraded parts being installed at no cost to me. They do have a great customer service!!!

I wonder with the XCR rifle in the lime light if they don't back off on building these rifles and keeping up with spare parts? Have to wonder also about all those recalls?

I dont think the XCR is gonna make a big hit in the market. The M96 was much ballyhooed and never delivered on the belt feed/7.62 which let a lot of buyers down (just as jt325i states.) I think it will have a small following like the M96, but no strong market. Don't get me wrong, I love my M96, its a great gun and I am please the XRC is offered in the 6.8. Time will tell. Nut, on the disconnector, I never jammed mine will on safe, yet mine failed. It failed when I was breaking in a new Recon barrel per Robinsons specs. Fully closed gas bleed just hammered the disconnector. The trigger/disconnect was just thin and badly designed. It just took time for the M96 to go thru the trenchs and for owners to give feedback enabling Robinson Arms to tweak the product. Most noteable were barrel launches, gas piston roll pins, bolts, and disconnectors. All which have been upgraded by Robinson. That fact alone gives alot of credence to Alex for his commitment to making the M96 a great weapon. Hopefully, the XRC will fair as well, if not better to the M96 in a very tough marketplace dominated by the AR15.

Funny you bring this up. I spoke to BJ over at Robarms yesterday, making sure that my trigger group hadn't been misplaced or lost in the mail. He assured me it is still in their safe, awaiting parts. Evidently they are having problems getting parts to rebuild the trigger sections that were returned. With any luck, I will be able to try out my new trigger group before summer is over. I can live with this because the M96 is a nice shooter, and Robinson has been very open and honest with all the upgrades. Still, that is the only firearm that I have ever owned that has been recalled, or had part replaced under upgrade campaigns.

Have to wonder if they have to much on there plate? Vepr's are hard to get, recalls on the M96. Design and develop problems.
