If anybody has picked up a Yugo. Crevena Zastava 70 (CZ 70) from SOG, Centrury, or anywhere else please post a pic so I can see what sort of condition they are in. Also, how do you like them? Pros, Cons?
These don't seem to be flying off the shelves like Mak.s or even P-64's.
I'm just wondering what's up and if they price may drop.

Haven't handled an M70 in person but they seem like nice little pistols. I'd probably buy one in .380, if they were imported. Or even if I could find a replacement .380 barrel. SOMEONE (I won't say who, but their initials are FAC) should produce a run of these .380 barrels, like what they've done for the Makarov.

I handled one of these in Bosnia a few years ago. They are smaller than a Mak and I believe that the frame is made for a .32 auto, like a little Kel-Tec, and you cannot swap out a barrel like you can with the mak.

I found a pic of an M70 sitting on top of a Mak on gunboards and they are a little smaller, but actually bigger than I thought..
Much like KelTec made a .380 version of their little .32, it seems the Yugoslavians make an M70 in .380acp. It's called the M70(K). Once again, I haven't handled one, but from what I can gather, it looks like they used the same frame, a .380 barrel and made some small changes to the slide (breech face, etc.) to accept the slightly larger round. The .380 version also holds one less round in the Magazine.

Crvena Zastava Mod 70
Azvodi Crvena Zastava, Beograd
Various calibres-see text
The basic Yugoslavian Model 70 pistol is based on their earlier Model 57, which was a locally-made version of the Soviet Tokarev using the Soviet 7.62mm cartridge. Wisely, the Yugoslavs decided that 9mm Parabellum was a better combat round, and the Model 70 is simply a Tokarev redesigned to take the 9mm cartridge. In this respect, it resembles the Tokagypt.
In recent years two blowback pistols have been produced, probably to arm police, under the Model 70 designation. The M70 is chambered for the 7.65x17mm (.32 ACP) cartridge, while the M70(k) uses the 9x17mm(.380 Auto) cartridge. Both are externalphammer designs, with magazine safety incoprorated.

(M70 and M70(k))

You should buy one now if you want it. The ATF ruled they are too small to allow any more to be imported.

Both guns in the third row down are Zastava M70s,
I was put off initially by the weight for the size, but bought one as a curiosity and fired it. No claybird at the 15 yard berm was safe, and I broke most of them at the 25 yeard berm. Figured I better get another.
The downside is that mags are scarce, but a distributor for the importer told me that some will be coming.
For the price, you can't go wrong.

Can somebody show it next to a Makarov or a CZ52? Maybe if I saw it next to a gun I own I could get a better sence of scale.
I sure wish they were C&R.

I have one, I like it although it is heavy. It is a Tokarev design and is very strudy and very accurate.

Hello all,
I just bought one... the grip is shorter than a Makarov, and has some of the reverse taper feel that the Tokarevs have (never bothered me, I have short hands).
Seems solid as all hell.
Do any of you know if they are safe to carry cocked & locked? Any source for holsters, or a holster than someone could "Klooge" together for one?

Mine's a .32 cal.
There's evidence of a similar pistol in .380 but I haven't ever heard of any in the U.S. Just wishful thinking on my part.

similiar to the tokarev? Externally, I can see a similiarity, but internal? Is the fireing mechanism the same as a tok? Just how reliable are these? Now you guys have me considering one for concealed carry, or as a car gun.....

and, are these blowback or do they lock up like tok?

I'd say they are very similar... the trigger looks about the same, the hammer group is about the same, it doesn't have the slide stop pin/clip thingie, but overall, it's a lot Tok influenced.
And it IS straight blow back, no lockup.

Could someone point me in the direction of a takedown guide for the M70. I've shot about 300 rds through mine so far, and I'm starting to get failure to chamber fully; jams. The gun is probably jamming because its never been taken down for a cleaning. Is the takedown the same as a full size Tokarev? I've heard the m70 is very much like the Tokarev. Thanks

Does your pistol look like the ones in the 3rd row down on this page? If so the breakdown is much like a military 45. Push in the indent on the front of the barrel and turn the forked looking pard (the barrel bushing) to your right as you look at the barrel. That's about it, should fall apart in your hands after removing the slide.

[QUOTE=KoldWarKid]If anybody has picked up a Yugo. Crevena Zastava 70
I picked up an M70 in Prescott, AZ last summer. It is a fine little pistol. The design is very like the Tokarev TT33 only in .32ACP. In fact it is sometimes called the Baby Tokarev. My M70 is accurate and easy on the hands. The only drawbacks are the all steel construction makes it quite heavy for its size and there a scarcity of readily obtainable parts and especially magazines. Doesn't like Blazer aluminum ammo at all! Sorry, I haven't figured out the picture part yet. :Imconfuse
