Hello everyone,im having a problem with my new RRA UTE upper.i got a EoTech 551 for it and the sight wont sit flat on the reciever rails when i tighten the thumb screw the sight sits crooked and the shoe that the thumb screw pulls goes over the bottom edge of the rail.anybody else have this upper and or simular problems with RRA or EoTech
thanks for any help
You may not be setting it properly. Back the thumb screw out several turns and then push it in. At this point it will pop the 'shoe' (as you call it) loose and you will be able to get both sides of the Eotech base to wrap around the flattop rail.
I've got a couple Eotechs and experienced something similar to your situation during the first install.

Good advice 308, I had the same trouble the first time I tried to put my 551 on.

thanks for the replys
well it looks like its the RRA UTE upper reciever is out of spec.the EOTech fits on all the other rails.it looks like the battery compartment is a problem as is the rail.now my bbl is mounted and i have to send the upper back to RRA?
EOTech was alot of help here although its not there fault i called them and they were going to send me a screw set for the hood and mount did not get that e mailed them over a week ago no reply.i guess there too busy selling new ones they got my money.

Get rid of the UTE upper and get an A3 from CMT. You could wait for the UTE-2 but that still limits future upgrades and configuration.
The UTE will defintely not cowitness with the EOTech and I have a good feeling the UTE-2 will put the BUIS too high in the EOTech's window.
