the roll pin that prevents the spring loaded ejector from coming out of the bolt partly came out while i was shooting my bushmaster. the end was deformed so i replaced it with another from bushmaster. the new one was not tight or even snug (no wonder the orig. came out.) i suspect the hole is slightly too large. i then replaced the new roll pin with a piece of drill bit stock that was exactly the size of hole and damaged the pin ends slightly for a secure, snug fit. my question: is there any problem with putting a solid pin in this thing instead of a roll pin? i've shot 80 rds since and the pin has not moved or became loose. thanks for reading

Sounds ok to me. But one thing to remember is the drill rod is brittle and can break with side pressure. The roll pin won't break, I would see if I could find a roll pin one size larger than the one you got from Bushmaster. :)

that's kind of what i thought. however, the ends deformed relatively easily when i used a hammer and prik-punch so it must not be too brittle.
