Over the weekend,I tried some loads with WC846 (using Ball(C)2 data). I use this powder in .308 and .223, as it is cheap and quite versatile. I'll also be trying it in 30/30 soon. It runs about $87 per 8#. It's probably not the greatest powder for the 7.62x39, but I have tons of it for other cartridges.
Anyway, 31.5grain of WC846 under a Speer 125gr SP (.311),OAL of 2.28", R-P cases, CCI 400 (Small rifle primers) is a nice safe load, with very little primer flattening. I'll be trying heavier loads, but I am already at 99-100% case capacity with this rather slow powder. I'll be chronographing these soon, and will report velocities. I'm hoping to be able to get 2300fps with a compressed load. These bullets have a very low cannelure, allowing plenty of room for powder in this tiny case.
Go ahead and post any data if you've tried any non-cannister grade loads.....

GACCKK! I got my Chrony working again, and tested some of these loads. Even compressed, I couldn't get enough speed out of the WC846. Average was around 1950fps. try, try, again....
