I have two Carbon 15 models right now: A C15 97S pistol turned into registered SBR and the new Model 4. I also had a C15 21S pistol but sold it to get the Model 4. All three were reliable, fun to shoot and super light. I would probably never own a non-Carbon 15 based AR type. The revolutionary, light weight material was the only draw to expand my collection beyond HK & AK types. The SBR has a sliding wire stock, forward vertical grip, Phantom flash hider, single point sling, Hogue grip, flashlight mount on the under rail and Eotech 552 on it. Its a pretty tricked out, fun CQB option. The carbon M4 model that I got came with a dealer-added single point sling mount & sling and will likely remain stock except for the addition of an Eotech and swap to a Hogue grip. No heavy rails, grips or lights/ mounts, just a simple, reliable & light carbine.

My Chief just got one. We took it to the range and fired it 2 days ago. It needs a Buttstock and a forward assist. It had trouble feeding ammo, but it was dry. We greased/oiled it and it ran better. Maybe it just needs to be broken in. Has anyone else had feeding problems?

Welcome to the group, marine2f2 and wstxcop !!!
I have an older Pro Ordnance Carbon 15 type 97 and it did take some breaking in to get it to function reliably. I spoke to Pro-Ord about it and they suggested using different ammo until I found one that it liked. Turns out that the older ones had such a tight match grade chamber that they were very ammo sensitive. I tried using South African mil surp but I would have to use a cleaning rod to knock the brass out of the chamber after each shot. I wound up using Sellier & Bellot and have not had any problems since.
I enjoy shooting it because it is light enough that I was able to put a hugh scope on it and not cause it to require wheels to cart around. There is very little recoil, and follow up shots are easy, but with that funny muzzle brake directing the blast straight up, seeing a bright orange flash in the scope in broad daylight takes some getting used to. It is a very accurate rifle for something so light and short!
I would only guess that Bushmaster has taken them and made them better!

Will a regular Bush upper receiver fit the lower on the carbon 15? My cheif wants to know. He misses the forward assist.

i also have an older inventory (Pro-ord box with bushmaster stuck on labels) and have had no issues at all except for a hernia picking up my L1A1 afterwards.
