CDNN has C-Mags for $250 as of now. I would truly like to have one for the novelty and fun of it, but how are they in the sense of reliability, durability, et cetera?

They are selling like crazy! Everybody and their mother are getting these. Once the ban was over the US Military bought the remaing supply! Now that supply has met demand there is no short suppy of these. Actually the ones being made now are better! Stronger plastics better feeding.

Like anything they still have their bugs, and I would NEVER trust one when my life was on the line. That's not to say Beta doesn't value their customers. The poor sap with the Beta-C below got his fixed for free and returned within a week. For a novelty, if you can afford it and want one, then by all means, go for it. If you're on the edge and just can't decide.. then I can give you a list of other things to spend 250$ on that'd be more worthwhile ;)

Guess that what happens to quality product when you put trash Russian ammo in it! In all seriousness, I cant stand C-Mags. With all the people that have died in Iraq and Afganistan because of those things jamming or breaking makes me hate them even more. I dont want to support a company that cant be troubled to figure out why they jam and break in combat to save lives.

a friend in iraq, had the same problems with those shitty mags, it caused 10 marines to get wounded and some killed, because they broke apart during a fire fight.

Thats not good at all! Then why does the US Military still use these then?

I personally don't like to spend money on a novelty. I can get somewhere around 20, 30 round USGI's for the same price. Plus I can then shoot 6 times as much without having to reload the mags.
Thats my thinking on the subject.

Its called the Lowist Bidder Reality in military lingo. our government has the bad habbit of buying their goods from the people that can make it the cheapest. Remember the crap about how the Beretta M9 jammed up constantly? Thats cuz the military desided to buy mags from Checkmate for $2 each instead of the original Beretta mags for $7 each. You mnay be thinking "There are military tests to prevent bad quality goods from getting in." Well, some companies have been cought making high quality products for the tests, then going to the cheaper materials for the contract products. But the problem with the C-Mag isnt bad quality or fuckign the system, its that they are the only ones making it, so they see no need to redesign a product on the market that they have full control over even though it is getting men killed. But the military brass is learning. Reportidly the military has stopped buying Checkmate mags and started buying Beretta mags for the M9, but I cant confirm this as of yet. Lets hope the same happens with C-Mags!

It's called putting plastic into an enviroment not suited for plastic...
And it's not the lowest bidder reality... but it is being cheap.... why stick a multithousand dollar SAW or 240 bravo along with a trained operator in a unit, when they can outfit a basic trained operator with a C mag and have a similar impact.
It'd be downright smart if the damn things held up better. Make em out of alluminum and see what happens. Better yet! SHRIKE belt feds! :D
It is about being cheap, and Beta makes a good product, but a Beta wasn't suited for war, and I don't think a plastic mag of any make would be suitable either.

It is the lowest bidder reality, look in any military mag or interviews with soldiers. The govt purposly selects the lowest bidder if all else is close to being equal unless crooked politics sneak in (which happens alot. Bribes, vote promisses, etc) and forces the committeesto select one gun over the other without testing. Thats just what happend to Alex Robinsons XCR. The damn thing was rejected without a shot being fired. That is the ONLY reason the 92FS was seletcted over the P226 for Americas (then) new sidearm. THe SIG 226 cost Uncle Sam $650 each and the Beretta cost $500 each. The P226 performed better in every catagory, but the govt didnt see the slight performance difference worth the extra $150. Then, to cut costs more, they get shitty mags, getting men killed in the process.

250 is not really a price to faint over, I can pick up a NIB kit for 230 out the door at my local gun show.

Once again Ben.. I don't see how its the lowest bidder reality when there is only 1 bidder for a specialized mag like the Beta C.
Maybe its the case for other products, but I don't see that holding true with a Beta.
Need to get your head out of a magazine and think boy! ;)
30 round USGI mags are a different story. Many suppliers all fighting for contracts.

hmm.. i paid 550 for my beretta 92fs brand new.. old unble same didnt get much of a bulk buy bargain... lol
Oh, and im with Jordan.. If there is only 1 bidder making a government product it cant be the lowest bidder..its the only bidder. Prolly something to do with.. oh, i dont know.. patent laws. I would think the government would have to own the patent to contract out multiple companies to build the same thing. SO that tells me that the gubment dont own the patent and should go ahead and do that. But my guess is that Beta wont have that.
