...piece of crap! Well, it goes like this...

My Aunt and her 2nd Husband, wonderful people but I believe they don't like guns, Told me around Christmas time that they had found an old gun she had and forgot about. They would like to give it to me. Obviously, I said..."If you really feel that strongly about it, I'll take it." Actually, I nearly pissed my pants at the prospect of a FREE gun. Well, soiled underwear was not worth the gun. :) Well, they showed up over Easter with the gun in tow. When she was married the first time, her husband bought the gun for her. She stuck it in a box and forgot about it. This was around 1970 roughly...give or take a few years. She hands me the box and I perked up a little. Old box...looked almost new. Open said box...sunk to the depths. It's a little piece of crap RG .22 short...nickle plated receiver, black barrel. looks to have never been fired but it's still an RG. Look at the pics...It's a 1970's pimp gun!!!! Oh, for craps sake!! Got all hyped up over this and...blam...sunk like a Polish U-Boat. Now don't take me wrong, I'm not ungrateful. Just disappointed. Got my hopes up...thought it would be some old Colt .38 or something like that. Oh..well! Now...how about some input as to this pistol. Absolutely no marking on the gun except the serial number of 170XX. The grips have a "B" on the medallion..that's it. Nothing more. Not even caliber or manufacturer, although I know it is an RG. The dealer tag on it has stock number of "R G I U" and the selling price...$16.95. It's NIB and the box has "Verchromt" on it. I assume it means "Chromed". Cylinder does not swing out. There is a loading gate on the right side. The Cylinder pivot rod is unscrewed and is used to push the spent shells out. The cylinder DOES NOT remove. It was bought at GRAVES-HUMPHREYS, INC. in Roanoke, Virginia. It's a real Piece of...ahem...work! Any input? Worth what...25...30 dollars? Steve? You know much about guns...what can ya tell me?

Nice try! I'm not totally  . Free gun is still a free gun! To me, it's a curiosity. It has been my understanding that these guns sold like hotcakes in the 70's. Real POS but still a curiosity.

I did some checking and Verchromt literally means Chromium-plated.

Paul, it looks like you have a Rohm RG-10 model revolver. I've just never seen one with nickel plating. I've actually seen blued versions of the RG-10, sometimes refered to as the RG-22S, selling for $50-$75. I would only treat it as a curiosity and not attempt to fire it. And yes, the cylinder has to be manually advanced each time.

Steve,
Thanks for the info. :thanks: Actually, it's a DA/SA and the cylinder advanced on it's own with each trigger pull. It does not, however, swing out. It is fixed in the frame like a SA Colt. I have no plans on firing it. If you look closely at the pic, the barrel axis is not parallel with the cylinder axis. It is a few degrees off with the muzzle being higher than the cylinder. Interesting little firearm...from a time when crap sold well. What am I saying...crap still sells well. Look at some of the crap being marketed today. :D

LOL, I still have a couple of them whut I took away from a couple of wannabees....in the 70's. DON'T fire it...I did, they shave enough lead that the guys on either side of you are in danger....

I'll bet! It doesn't look safe to fire.
