It happened that I got this Hatsan Escort Magnum today on by Bday. :bday: I know nothing about this shotgun other than it's from Japan?? Got it NIB from a friend who got it as a bonus. What a job, I'm jealous. We do the same profession, so watch out my friend. I learned on a Moss 500a combo setup and got my bruising shooting those 3" mag shells. It has 24" slug, 28" scatter w/4 interchageable chokes, and 18.5" riot barrel. Also got a Beretta AL-2 autoloader that has a removable 30" full barrel. Good deer and turkey buster. :happydanc Reason I got this one for 150.00 :jump: besides price was that it had a 28" 3 choke (interchangeable) barrel. No need to buy an expensive Berreta barrel now. I love shotgunning but have been overwhelmed by the milsurp family. Be it a SKS or Mauser, I'm a kid in a candy store let loose. Now since I over ate, I'm back to normal. Nothing better than a shotty. What's the scoop on these Hatsan's. It takes six 3" mag in tube? Can I chamber one like in a pump. Never shot my semi-auto's as of yet. But the old 500 has around 350 rounds through it. A little skeet was fun. :duece: Even got a double on two shots once. My gun shop gave me a sale's price of 299.00 and the MSRP is around 400-450. This was a hoax since this one came in black polymer stock (bummer) when box said Turkish Walnut. I hate black, but hey, the ducks, turkeys, rabbits or squirels won't tell the difference in the sack. This seems like a lonely forum. Where are the shotgunners at? :wtf:

FYI made in Turkey and holds 4 + 1 in 3" with parkerized barrel, anti-glare rib and receiver. Barrel made of Chromium Molybdenum Steel. Has a magazine cut-off. This one will take a shoulder off in polymer, but I have a recoil shoulder pad (learned early with the oak Mossberg about the recoil of 3" mag shells). Wondering about performance and maintenance issues (if any). Make my :bday: Like to hear about something I wouldn't have bought except I did.

RR223, thanks for that info. I guess that means stock hardware only. Are the gun parts (receiver/barrel etc.)interchangeable? With it being black, that rear pistol grip could be an idea. I think 922 won't allow a fore-end pistol grip on autos. A no-no. :wtf: The turk walnut on box picture is real purdy, makes me :yeah:. This thing has a fourth choke (not marked but looks like X-full or turkey) which extends beyond barrel. Didn't try that dime test for full choke. Forget this type choke's name. Its kind of growing on me a little. I still despise this black, but my Bull Pup is cool in this shade. It backs up its evil looks. :sniper: But shotguns are best home for defense as well as point and shot hunting. Wonder how recoil effects the rate of effective fire for an auto SGs? Dang polymer!!

I've been looking closely at these as well. Any reports would be appreciated. Can they take steel shot? Some cheap foreign shotguns cannot. I looked at one at Dunham's and it was made in Turkey, not Japan. Are we talking about the same thing? Sounds like it, with the combo of a long choked barrel and a rifled slug barrel. Pretty nice for a two barrel package price. Now that I read it, it does look similar to the FABARM, though I highly doubt inside parts are interchangeable.

Would be happy to learn all there is to know about these!

Hatsan is Turkish my friend. and yes, it is a very good, reliable and unexpensive shotgun. Its built on a very good material and shoots perfectly. The only problem I have found is that there arent a lot of accessories.
