While sighting in the varmint ar-15 I recently put together after about 60 rounds I put in some of the winchester varmint ammo to see what kind of groups I could shoot, first pull of the trigger with it yielded 2 shots, second pull yielded another 2 shots. Tried holding the trigger down and blew through the next 16 shots in around 4 seconds. Put in another clip of the same stuff and all 20 rounds in about 5 seconds, any thoughts on what to look for? full auto for varmints sux.
thnx, T
Do you have a stock trigger? If so how, new is it?

stock trigger, it's about 2 weeks old, gun had about 120 rounds fired through it before this started happening, had been cleaned just before I went shooting. I'd post pics of the gun but for some reason it does'nt want to let me post hyperlinks when I tried.

Take it to a competent gunsmith right away.

I've heard of this happening before. Find yourself a gunsmith that can remedy it . OR buy a new semi FCG and put it in.
Sounds like bad QC to me.....

I'm thinking that the carrier might have gotten mucked up from shooting cheap ammo or sumthing and that it was'nt slidding the hammer back all the way, hav'nt gotten to take the gun back to the range, but when I cleaned it the carrier did'nt move as smoothly as normal so I lubed it up some...

Did you check your buffer/bufferspring and tube?

well cleaned the heck outta the gun and took it out to the range, now it seems to be firing and chambering another round but not cocking the hammer.
T
You got a sear problem. Either the interrupter (that only allows semi auto) or the sear itself is out of spec. Maybe the hammer. Get a new FCG.

any recomendation on a place to get it from? would buying a match trigger instead of the stock one solve the problem? On the + side I got to shoot some neat guns while I was seeing if cleaning the gun fixed the problems. (P-90, FN2000, silenced MP-5, uzi, baretta machine pistol) Would post vids but site does'nt like me posting links last time I tried.
T
Ya, you have to have 50 posts to post a link. Where to get a FCG, hummm, check with DPMS and model 1 sales. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more places to check. Was the Baretta machine pistol the M93? I have fires the others you mention but never go to fire a M93. ;)

I'm not sure on the model of it, it looked like a 92f but had a selector on the back of the slide for full auto, I think my favorite gun was prolly the fn2000 just because I like bullpups and the sight picture on it was much better than the P-90 and it actully was more comfortable to shoot, the length on the P-90 was a little too short for someone with my length arms so it did'nt feel comfortable.
send me a PM if ya want a link to a vid of the pistols and/or other guns.
T
Yup, if it looks like a 92f it is a 93. I'd really like to try one. I'll never own one, seems that when I retired from the military I could no longer be trusted with full auto weapon's without paying for what is already a "right". I have seen them fired so the vid is not really needed. But thanks for the offer. I also like bullpups, I have a Bushmaster M17s and a 10-22 bullpup. ;)

was kind of interesting from what the guy that owned the fn2000 said that the first 1200 made were in belgium still, and there's only like 7 in the usa, the serial number on his was 1201 :-)
also, might have figured out the problem with the ar15 also, took it completely apart and gave it a royal cleaning, and remembered that when I was first putting it together the disconnector spring was just slightly too large and was a pita and because of it's size it did'nt quite compress far enough, so while I had the gun apart I slightly re-shaped the spring so that it fits nicely now and the disconnector seems to have a lot smoother play in it now.

Cool!! I hope it works for ya. ;)
