Autoburst.net makes a delrin Krink handguard set with a Picatinny rail on the bottom. You can mount a laser on the the bottom.

I'm thinking about getting one from CenterfireSystems. They carry one that looks to be a pretty compact, barrel mount model for $59.

I'm thinking of modifying the wood lower (by adding wood) to house a laser (inside the hanguard).
The battery compartment would have to accessible as well as the adjustments.
This way, there is nothing exposed to get in the way or banged around.
More later... :)

That would be cool. Are you concerned about heat?
I think this would work. http://www.tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/media2/trilower02.jpg

That would work, but it would still be exposed, and subject to being hit.
Wood is a great insulator, and the way I plan to build it, it will be totally enclosed in wood with no chance of being hit or subjected to heat.

Hmm. I guess I unintentionally put this project on the back burner.
I need to get it out and work on it.
Thanks for reminding me. :)

Slamfire51 has it right. If one is to be used, you want it in a protected position.
We have a CrimsonTrace on one of our handguns and it is GREAT indoors.
Out in the Florida sun, the dot is lost.
If ever used in "real life" scenarios...consider.....
If up against a pro, it should only be on just as you shoot, and immediately back off as you move after shooting.
If up against a newbie, you can use it to "rattle" them, hoping they will give away their position, by you sweeping the room with the dot before you enter.
