I'm looking at buying some 9mm ammo, and I noticed it comes in different grain sizes. That's the weight of the bullet right? There's 115, 124, 147. What would be the pros and cons of the different ones? I'm new at shooting here.

It depends on what you're doing with it & some guns will shoot better with a particular bullet weight. Lighter bullets will have a higher velocity, while some people prefer heavy & slow. For target shooting & plinking, 115 gr. is the most commonly used. 124 gr. is a popular size for JHP bullets.
Good question. I have a Hi-power copy that is made in hungery that is sighted for the 124 grain NATO load. That is a 124 grn FMJ at 1250 FPS. It eats them like candy and hits where I point it. On the other hand I have a kel-tec P11 that does much better with 115 grn standerd velocity loads. Winchester non-+p 115 grn JHP ( I have not crony'ed these yet) Thing is, unless you have ajustable sights most American made 9mm are sighted from the factory for the 115 grn loads either +p or non-+p, a lot of pistols made in europe are sighted for the 124 grn loads. The only way that you are going to know is to try them all and see what your sights are regulated for. Oh and BTW in my IMHO the 147 grn loads are a waste of lead and powder. ;)

I agree fully, stay away from the 147 grain loads.
