I have 3 Yugo Mausers. 2-M48a and a M24/47

They shoot high with the Turk ammo.

Is the 8MM ammo from Coles Dist in the 900rd case any good?

Will it lower the POI on these Yugos?

I think the Yugo is 198gr where the Turk is 156gr, is this correct?

The Yugoslavian surplus 8mm is 1950's make and weighs 196 grains on average. The turkish stuff is 155 grains. Seeing as how the Yugo stuff is boat-tailed and the turk stuff is flat based, I am not quite certain of where the differance in impact between the two rounds would be. You should know, that the Yugo stuff is corrosive, though not as bad as turk, and has very hard primers. In the 2 M48's and 1 Turkish Mauser I own, it is a common occurence (at least once in every box of 20) to have to strike the primer twice or even several times to get ignition. Oddly, this never happens in my K98. At all. If I were you, I'd get the Romanian surplus 150 grain stuff offered by AIM and Interordnance. It is cheaper then the Yugo stuff and more accurate, plus is only mildly corrosive. My step-father went shooting with the stuff, not knowing it was corrosive, and left the rifle uncleaned for 2 days. Running a patch down the bore I found only black, no red or brown. It has a huge muzzle flash in most rifles though.

I have the turk ammo and my M-98 shoots about 12" high at 80 yards (as far as I have been able to get from a target in my pit)

The sights are set as 100 meters to 2,000 meters, so I expected things to be high.
I found a front sight blade at numerich arms for $9.30 i think and it is 14.25 with shipping.
What is in the M-98 as standard is .222 and from Numerich is .315.
So I'll let you know what happens as soon as I can

It's supposed to be mildly corrosive, but a friend has shot several rounds through his Yugo M48 and we've not seen any signs of corrosion on his patches. Anyway, it's good ammo for the price. Besides that, Rifleman, you're like just down the street from AIM anyway. LOL

What I've heard: Almost all 8mm firing militaries switched over to a bullet weight near 150+gr's somewhere in the vicinity of WWI,IIRC. The heavy bullet ammo is mostly machine gun ammo, or old stashed stuff. This is the best explanation I've ever heard for why almost all 8mm rifles shoot high with the 196gr stuff.(with the exception of the turkish mausers).

Mine shoot high with the 155gr ammo guys. I don't know about the rest of you. For one thing, the sight leaf starts at 200 meters so this is part of it. Also, I heard somewhere that the Yugo mauser sights were designed to shoot the heavier 196/198 grain bullets. So the combo of light bullet and 200m starting point when I shoot 100yrd is some if not all of the problem.

Oh and the Romanian ammo is gone. The only 8mm AIM has is the Turkish.
