I went to a book store and looked mine up in the Winchester serial number book. Mine was made in 1906, ser# 374xxx. I wish I would have bought the book.

Rew, your friend's Winchester Model 1894 was made in 1926. What length of barrel does it have?

Steve, thanks, it's a normal 20" barrel carbine. Which is one reason I was kind of supprised at the saddle ring stud.

Rew, prior to about 1940, the saddle ring carbine was a common varient of the Model 1894.
