I had one non matching serial numbers made in 1957 the first year they made them there was it worth anything? Because of the year made. What do you guys think of the little Romianian SKS?

The Romanian SKS is worth around $130 - $160 wholesale.
I don't own one, but a lot of guys do. They seem to be good servicable rifles. I like the looks of the blade bayonet!

It might have been worth more if it was a minty matching numbers. With the non matching numbers, I'd put it at about $140-$150.
I have several Romo's they're pretty good shooters.

I had a Romanian SKS but I traded it to a friend...wasn't very impressed with it, I couldn't belive how short the stock was. It Just didn't work for me... a lot of guys I know love it as a deer rifle though

I've shot El Mullah Atta Campo's Romanian, and I was an instant fan. Shoots the same ammo as the AK, sturdy little fuck of a gun, and accurate, and it will fit perfectly in my patrol pack's side rifleholder sleeves (large Eagle Becker). Just reach up over your shoulder and whip that little baby out. :) The AK's not so smooth outta the pack, so I just sling it. I'd love to hunt with an SKS.
It's as fun shooting at high speed as the SAR AK. I'm impressed with em both anyway. I'm sending in the C&R application in the morning.

I just picked up a Romanian 1957 too, all matching EXCEPT THE DAMNED TRIGGER HOUSING!@!!, which I didn't check when buying. I bought mine from Global Trades, they had them at their table at the Pasadena TX gunshow for too much money, but the guy (Robert I think- main gunsmith at GT) had done trigger jobs and testfiring of all his Romanians (Global Trades is one first class place in my book, so I figured he was on the level). I got to look over the eight he had, chose the first year of production, the guy wanted me to buy the other 1957 he had, while it was a less common potbelly stock, it was nasty and he had parkerized the whole thing after he had cleaned the rust.
I'm very pleased, and while I could have paid $50-75 less by mailorder, my new SKS was hand selected, had a trigger job, and was available to me on the spot.
I like it!

where do you look for the serial numbers, and how many?
SKS will be my first C&R purchase.
