Can someone carry a AK pistol, with a concealed carry permit? I would not know why other then magazine capacity, but dont see how that could effect nothing since some pistols have 15 rounds or so.. I know it would have to be concelaed, but you could probably find some half way comfortable way of doing it, but I just wanted to know if you could do it? I dont think it would be of very much use unless you was in a very very bad territory, and you was out one night and didn't know the people, then it would probably not be that bad of a thing to use! Of course as short as it gets, like the one slamfire built.. Just curious :big: Wolvy

You would need to wear a very big coat if you want to conceal carry something like an AK pistol. To be honest, it's not practical at all to conceal carry an AK pistol. Try wearing a big coat in 90 degree F and above weather. That would be uncomfortable as hell. Also, if you ever in a hand-to-hand fight with some thug, he can use the size of the AK pistol as leverage against you and try to take it off from you.

Another thing is the ammo. It's still considered rifle ammo and, depending on the laws of wherever you live, it might get you into trouble if you use rifle ammo in an urban area.

Only in Hollywood you would see something such as concealed carry an AK pistol.

Your best best is to use a regular pistol or revolver for conceal carry and use the AK pistol for recreational shooting.

I know that, I was just asking if it could be done legally?

I have a carry permit, (we in TN with permits are not required to conceal) and I've done extensive research on the carry laws in Tennessee, and nowhere does it state what handguns can or cannot be legally carried.
IMO, as long as it is registered as a pistol, you're good to go. I carry mine in the truck, but never on my person for obvious reasons.

In Oklahoma, the only restrictions mentioned in the SDA (Self-Defense Act) booklet which governs CCW are 1) No gun greater than .45 caliber and 2) No AP ammo allowed for carry. So as far as I can determine, AK pistols are totally legal for CCW here...only problem I can see existing is if you carried steel core ammo in your AK pistol while CCW'ing it. :) I think Wolf 154 gr. SPs are really the way to go there anyway, so everything should be GTG. ;)

While potentially legal to carry, what would happen if you actually had to shoot someone with an AK pistol? First of all, the 7.62x39 is renowned for its ability to overpenetrate the primary target (bad guy) and continue on its merry way. Hopefully it wouldn't strike an innocent bystander standing in the bullet's flight path; that would be left to chance. Also, even though an AK pistol is short, its performance is still rifle-like. You will be firing a weapon with an effective range of 400 yards plus: How far away is that bad guy gonna be again? Finally, what happens when your case goes before a judge and jury and the prosecutor brandishes your "AK-47" before an aghast jury of average Joes and Janes? Suddenly you were the guy who machinegunned down the hapless mugger and did all that collateral damage to boot. Hard to look like the good guy or even seem justified in that light.

I think a major caliber pistol would be a much better choice for an actual (legitimate) defensive shooting. You never want it to appear you were "out looking for trouble" in the eyes of a jury. To carry an AK pistol with even remote or humorous thoughts of using it for self-defense is to tempt fate to force its use, and bring upon you the aforementioned consequences.

You've nailed it right on the head!

That was the point I was trying to point out. What if you had to face a liberal judge and jury? That's why I've said to carry only a revolver or regular pistol for self-defense and use the AK pistol for recreational shooting.

As mentioned in my previous posting, a smaller weapon is much harder for the punk to get out of your hands than an AK pistol if you ever had to get in a hand-to-hand fight with that punk.
