need some input

Hey guys got a ?? I was thinking that since I am going into the military soon at fort knox to be a tanker and plan to go to Iraq after But when I get back I was thinking of going into law enforcement .I heard that police departments hire Military persons I have thought of this for a long time and would like some input .also I plan to take some law classes since the military will pay for my college, what do I need to look for any help would be appreciated

I don't know about other states but in Wisconsin to be police officer one must go through the academy and within 5 years have 60 college credits. The other way to go would be to get an "associate" degree in criminal justice then academy.

I'm not to sure about here in Alabama ,I know there is academy But some of the smaller towns have told me Military back ground is a plus,and a step in the right direction.I am suppose to go and talk to the chief of police in my town soon to get a better Ideal what to look for once I come out of the military.thank you for your help in my interest of becoming a officer.
