I need a set of full length hand guards that fit a round hand guard cap. Most will only fit the triangle type.

Only handguards that fit a triangle cap are the old triangle style M16 handguards. You want newer A2 style handguards such as these:

Or are you saying that you want a set of early style triangle shaped handguards that fit a newer A2 style cap? If that is the case, I think you are out of luck. I am not aware of anyone who currently manufactures original style handguards for an original style cap, much less for an A2 cap. :(

Here is a pic of my gun. I want to remove the Surefire and put on regular handguards. If you look at the cap, it is round. I had to remove the old one and replace it with the round one so I could install the Surefire. I just don't want the light on all the time. I had the set I took off, thinking I could make it fit, but I couldn't. Even with a Dremmel tool.

A2 handguards are designed to fit round and triangular HG caps. Most 20" rifles have the triangular cap and the carbines use the round. However, the locking tabs on A2 handguards are set up to work either way. With the round cap you will have more play as the only thin holding the guards straight is the gas tube.

Lowdrag, SureFire makes that forend with either the round or triangular cap setup. Did you buy the wrong one not realizing this or what?

Goto the choose your model tab. It says Colt rifle (round HG cap) and Colt Rifle (trangular HG cap).

Thanks, I think I'm on the right track now. I've called around and everyone makes A2 hanguards that fit only the triangle type cap, except Colt. Colt for some reason makes a round one for it's A2. Since I have the 510A I need to get Colt handguards.
