I am trying to decide which Armory receiver to use for an AMD pistol build. Is the 1.6 mm significantly heavier than the 1.0? Any advice about which one to go with based on experience would be very helpful.

Thanks

I built this pistol on a Armory 1.0mm receiver.
That receiver is the stuff. :)

All my builds, but this one, have been on OOW's, and I have to say, I wish the Armory receiver had been available for the beginning.

I have no doubt that the 1.6mm receiver is stronger, but my question is why? There are literally millions of AK's in the world that have thousands and thousands of rounds through them without without failure. I think the thicker receivers are mostly hype and don't offer any real advantage and do have some parts fitting issues with them. I'm not saying they are bad, I just don't think they offer any real advantage over a 1mm receiver. The weight difference is not significant, but for the added strength, you have do grind trunions and do some other mods to make standard parts fit. Just my worthless opinion though!
