After seeing his German K98's i had to order one today. I hope I get a nice one. Actually all I really care about it the bore. Maybe, just maybe, I'll get the coveted SS proof too. :)
Thanks for the heads up on those W2K. I looked at those specials all month and just glazed over the K98.
I'm on a Mauser roll lately. Last week I ordered a M98/22 Czech and today I ordered the kraut 98. I'll have the following Mausers now:
Turk
(2) M24 Yugo
M48A Yugo
M1916 Spanish
FR8 Spanish
M98/22
K98
I also wanted to order one of their new arrival Czech CZ24's but they were already -500. I bet AIM bought them all.
I got good vibes about these ones that are on the way, going to be superb shooters, I can feel it!

I hope you get one better then the one in the pic below.this is the one with the SS marking.the bore is in good shape I think it's going to be a good shooter:D .ive been thinking of ordering another one but I think ill have to wait for the yugo SKS to come in(because I think I'm the only guy with a C&R that does not have a SKS).I think you will be pleased with the K98.

Is this your "birthday present", REDSTAR?

No, I ordered the CZ52 too, that's the one my wife bought me for my Birthday. I just slipped this one in along with 800 rounds of ammo for the CZ52 and 1000 rounds of Turk ;)
I couldn't pass up on the Oct specials on The K98 and Turk 8mm ($65). Actually the CZ52 was an October special too. So I saved about $45!! woo-woo! Dang! I should have thrown in a Turk Mauser or M44 with my savings! Muwahahahahahahaha!!!!
I had called SOG for the 7.62 x 25 and they were sold out of both types they had advertised so in a fit of ammo panic I went to Century who only sells 800 round tins! Oh well, I never got that Chicom AK I wanted, so I guess it's OK :) Besides I hardly ever shoot pistolas so I'll be set for life on the ammo.
Also, I really hate having a weapon on the way with no ammo for it. Makes me nervous. A weapon without ammo bothers me. I'm the same way with cigarettes and toilet paper. You will never find me without any of these three items :D

Nah, she's got a continuing case of 'weapon overload' she lost count a long time ago!
You just get her so used to weapons going back and forth, pulling them out and showing them to her and going into the minute details and history of every rifle, from the initial design phase to the current variants, so much so that her eyes get a glazed look and her head nods up and down with fake acknowledgement. You also make a point of saying you just saw 'one of these' at the gun show for 5 times what you just paid for it, then there's the 'investment angle' although I've never sold one of my wepaons EVER, well maybe one or two to a close friend who I knew would take care of it...
Anyway, that's when you can order whatever you want whenever you want!
edit- Oh OH- she just read this oer my shoulder !!! I can't play with you guys anymore. :(
seriously, she supports it. She's never once bitched about my hobby. She bitches about me sitting here at the 'puter and ignoring her though! I told her about the M98, the CZ52 but I neglected to tell her about the ammo.

whos2kno,
Good looking k98. I collect these as well. What date and factory code is stamped on the receiver? I am just curious because one my Nazi 98's is an S/243 code made in 1937.

1. Yea, when my wife asks me what have you bought another gun I just say No dear its the same gun just a different magazine, or no dear I just put a new bayonet on the old mauser I already had.
2. She also has lost count. She thinks I only have one AK. Good thing she doesnt have combos to my gun safes.

LOL Neil!!! My trouble is I've always let her handle the bills....Now has come back to haunt me,even have direct deposit on my check....so I can't make a move without her knowing!!!!
Guess I can't complain too much though,I just started a bit under two years ago and have sunk substantial amounts of money into an Armalite,Galil,AK's,STG58,and on and on.....Not bad for a wife who once said, and I quote"We'll never have a gun in the house".....My first purchase was TWO guns,so we never did have A gun in the house!!!! :D
She's come around, even wants to learn to shoot for selfdefense.
Here's some of my Beauties.....

1 Patriot: What's the deal with the white SKS stock? I want to put one on one of mine. I figured I'd buy one of those red fiberglass stocks and paint it white. Would seem easier than with wood. What did you do?
