Anybody ever fired Cast bullets in a .223/5.56? Don't give me the old "lead bullets are bad for the gas system" argument. I have been useing lead bullets without a problem in an M1 carbine and less often in an FAL for years. I'm thinking .224" cast lead gascheck will be my nest handloading/bullet making adventure. ;)

Never used them, but having used the .22LR conversion kit, I was "advised" ;) not to shoot more than 1k rounds through it without shooting a nato spec round to clear the tube.

1k rounds is a LOT for centerfire ammo though. Can go through .22LR rather quickly :D

That'd be quite interesting though. I'd say a .224 would be good to go. Definately let us know how it turns out.

Oh ya I will, lead rifle bullets use a gas check that more or less scraps through the bore behind the lead bullet. I kind of dought I'll be able to get to NATO standard velocity, but if I can make the rifle function I'll be happy. ;)
