I just sent my Saiga 12 in for Pistol Grip Conversion.I am stuck on deciding which stock set to go with. Has anyone tried the AMD 65 style folder with fore grip. I think I want a folder but open for suggestions.
Thanks. I respect the opinions of the PROS on this forum.

top of the line would be a 74 style sidefolder. cost is probably around $250-$300 installed..

a romy sidefolder is a very cheap addition, around $50 and requires no mods to the rear trunnion, you can install it yourself.

a fixed USA 74 style from K**R cost around $50 also..

gotta worry about those USA parts..

I'm not a pro but I'm thinking about adding a skeleton sidefolder with the grenade launcher recoil pad on my S12. I don't like the down angle on the AMD sidefolder, it causes too much muzzle rise.

Steve, Big Al, thanks for the input. I've got until Monday or Tuesday to decide. I like the idea of the side folder cause it will be easy to stow. Also the fore grip for control.

On my AMD-65 I have trouble inserting Polish polymer 7.62 mags, they just don't clear the forward swept handguard pistol grip. I figure 8-rd saiga 12 mags would be similar.

Go with the AK74 style stock with the recoil pad,you will need it.I have also had an AMD stock on one of my Saiga 12s,it was fine until I mounted a 74 stock on my other Saiga 12.Now both of them sport the AK74 sidefolder.I did the work myself, the stock was somewhat easy to install, just measure and remeasure again. The foward latch is the problem, not very much room between the reciever and the barrel trunnion.I am still looking for a way to solve it.Hope this helps, good luck.

Romy folder. Inexpensive, works fine, lasts a long time...

I used an ACE stock on mine, very comfortable.I installed mine before they came out with new style adapter block which has a much nicer look.

That is the factory gas block. I am in the same process right now. Just wating on my rataining rings to get here do I can start on it. I am probably going to stick with the black synthetic though.

Here is mine along with my other babies.

Hand guards are from an RPK as well as lower retainer.Upper retainers I removed from standard AK gas tube.Lower retainer was bored out to fit S12 barrel.OD of gas tube is the same on AK and S12.Here is a pic of my Saiga 20 with standard ak furniture.

AK-100 series is probably the best route. The russian have side-folding skeleton stock and they seem to prefer the 100 series on the S12. Maybe it's just me, but that skeleton stock is a little thin in the back to stay comfortable very long.
