I'd just like to say thx for all the info around here. I've been a collector for many years, but just getting in to millitary style weapons. Ive purchased several millitary style weapons over the last year or so for my collection, and with each one I spent several days in the gun forums taking in all the info I could before looking for my next purchase.
Just bought my first AR the other day, after two months of reading and searching. I found a Colt Sporter Target, I havent called Colt yet but according to the serial number list Ive seen and when this guy said he bought it, it is a pre-ban. But its one of the last pre-ban. It has the flash supressor but no bayonet lug and has the receiver block. This rifle is unfired, the original 20 round Colt mag has never had a round in it. He gave me 10 extra 30 round mags (mil-surplus) he had for it. And 1200 rounds of Norinco 55gr HP ammo. The one thing I didnt get, that I wish I did was the box. He said he never keeps the boxes from guns.
I ended up giving him $900 for it all. I hope I didnt do to bad on this one the old lady was a little upset, because she has her mind set on a new car, and I spent some of the down payment money. But like I told her, there will always be new cars out there. But unfired pre-ban Colts are few and far between!
