Senco pneumatically-driven nails for interior, coated screws for decks.

:D

I think I'm gettin' a woody. :naughty:

I prefer screws, though I'm certainly no carpenter. I just can't hit a nail straight to save my life.

Depends, if it is going to subjected to much stress or load bearing, then I screw it down good and tight. Otherwise, I nail it and be done with it.

When I built my 11X20 gunroom and 2nd bath addition last year, I broke down and bought a framing air nailer. After noticing that I used a box and a half of nails for it (2K per box!) I decided that I will never hammer another nail or drive screws in any large project as long as I live.
I DO agree that screws are the only way to go on decks, though.

You screw decks, they do not back out. You nail everything else, nails have shear strenth, nails last longer in fencing as screws thend to rust and the holes rot out fast and your boards will start to pop off in a few years... Ask me how I know (I hate the previous owners of my house)...

Just remember that when you use a nail gun you are suppose to still hit every nail with a hammer, it compresses the wood and holds your construction tighter.

IT DEPENDS ON THE JOB !!!!!!!!!!

There is a reason they still make nails...Screws are not the savior of the woodworking community........:)

I only use screws! gamerooms, sheds, gun rooom. fences, all screwed. when ya use those nail guns they are hard as hell too pull out. only time i use a nailgun is when i'm sheathing floor joists or roofing plywood.

We used nails on any deck we built. Always use screws if your put'n up rock.

i'm no carpenter but i detest using nails. i use screws for almost everything. i'm building a shed and vowed no nails. it seems to be slower than nailing. but if i screw up, i can redo it a lot easier.
