Just wish they would lower the price a bit.

Price Im told is going up to $1800. More of a collectors item now that they are running with the XCR series. You can still get a used one for around 1100 last i checked. I love mine. No recoil, even less than the AR-15.

After almost a year of vacillating, I finally bought a used one. It's not the Recon Carbine with the 16" barrel; this is the older M96 Carbine with the long "rifle" gas system and 17.75" barrel.

I had it out for the first time this morning adjusting the sights before the weather got bad. Virtually no recoil, even less recoil than my converted 223 Saigas. Was 100% reliable with Wolf (gasp!), Radway Green, Silver Bear, XM193, and SA surplus. The 17.75" barrel is just about perfect IMO for balance, handling, and muzzle blast.

I can see why people like these.

Told you so!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Since they all look almost alike, mine is like Noah's, except it is the 20 inch expeditionary with the early rear sight. Great shooter!!!

I still like the looks of the Recon Carbine a bit better, but I well satisfied with the balance and handling of the older standard carbine.

I wonder if a G3 or CETME sling would work? I have an AK sling on mine but had to remove the hook to thread it, then reinstall the hook. That's a PITA even with two pliers and five hands.

They are nice rifles. I recently had the old brake cut off my barrel and an A2 fs attached. Gives it that just right look. Its a keeper.
