Went to AIM on Thursday and picked up a Mosin-Nagent M44 still in the arsenal refinished wrapper. :)

The gun was mostly in great shape. The stock had two repairs on it. One was on the end of the lower handguard and the other was behind the bayo when closed. Besides that the stock and finish was great.

The gun itself (Stock Removed) only had two imperfections. One was a scratch on the receiver that looked like it came from the importer when they marked the gun. The other was a spot of rust the size of a dime under the upper handguard.

Besides that the blueing was great, the action was smooth and the bolt was nice and shiny.

Took it out to the range today and fired it for the first time. It shoots so well I could not believe it. I love it. For $88 total you cannot go wrong.

Hey LED, the first one I got had that same dime size rust spot under the handguard. It's weird, on mine it was right under the handguard band. Wonder whats up with that?

I just cleaned all the rust off the spot and oiled it up. Should'nt be any problem. At least it's covered by the handguard. I just chalked it up to a $69. rifle. Guess perfection is out of the question.

Yeah, for $69 a perfect rifle probably isn't possible. But for $69 I'm not complaining. I might have to get me one more just because.

I'm gonna steel wool the rust spot and then cold blue tommorow. Hopefully thats all it will take.
