I have 2 laminated Russian M44 carbines that I picked up this year at Aim for 29 dollars each. Who else owns one or more of these great rifles?

Oh my could this be, I have one, but not laminated:cryeyes: It has a honey colered beech wood. The year is 1948 it is Russian with an arrow in a triangle, not sure about what it means. It's a shooter, my friends call it the FLAME THROWER. I use russian ball ammo head stamp from factory 80. HOT STUFF!!! That E. GERMAN stuff is weak! The rounds are shorter, the Russian's are 1/8th inch longer. I LOVE IT!!!! 8dDUCE.:D

Zouave, is your trigger sensitive? My rifle has a very sensitive trigger, I have a friend with a PLOSKA M-44 Nicer front site base. He shot my rifle, it knocked him pretty good. His rifle has a long pull, he was not ready for my rifles trigger. I kind of wish I had his front site base it is beefier than the Russian. I have noticed that CHI-COMs are the same way, thicker site bases. Mine shoots better though. I first shot my rifle the site was way over to the left. It still would not shoot straight. I took of the front site and put it on Backwards it shoots straight and true now. Guess the factory did not install it properly? 8dDUCE.

I love M44's! I have ten of them:
5 Russian (2) Laminate, (2) Blonde, (1) Hardwood
2 Hungarian
1 Polish
1 Romanian
1 Chicom Type 53
Talk about reaction at the range, these things are LOUD! Fireball city too, like 8dDuce says.
The Chicom was supposedly a war trophy and there are no import marks so who knows.
Most of mine have medium to long trigger pulls. I have a M91/30 with a very short trigger though.
Great rifles, one of my all time favorite commie weapons.

Russian M44 7.62x54R
Sure, there are cheaper M-44's out there, but they just don't compare to ours! These M-44's are in Excellent-Like new condition, still packaged arsenal paper wrap as shown, just as they were stored. Each comes complete with side folding bayonet.
Price: $69.95 (Excluding: OH State Sales Tax at 5.5%)
I think REDSTAR has one of these. I here that they are perfect!

Three in my collection:
Polish
Hungarian
Russian
The Hungarian is in the best condition, like new, but the Polish is the most accurate.

Got one, its my favorite Mosin, will add more. I need a laminated stock M44. Empire Arms had in their October 31 new items list a 1943 M44, yes- a pre-production M44 with laminated stock, asking $235 or so. I don't know if it sold.

I've got a Polski myself, though I have changed it a bit. It wasn't in that great of condition so I decided to thread the muzzle for a AK-74 type brake and I cut the bayonet off because it was just added weight. The trigger is scary, you barely touch it and it goes bang!
I have decided the rifle is much more accurate than the jerk behind it. I can put two shoots right next to eachother and then I always zip one about 4-6 inches away from the other two. Oh well, its still a great rifle and will hpoefully get me a deer this season.

I have one of the mummy wrapped grade rifles still in stock. I kept it for a trial but have yet to test shoot it. Anyway that's not the interseting part about it. The rifle has been rearsenaled and appears 100% new barrel and finish. However the stock looks original. It's got some bumps and dings that are still in it and heres the really intersting part for me. The color is not yellow / blonde or orange. It's a deep reddish brown!
What I theorize is happening is that when most of these rifles are rearsenaled the Soviets were sanding down the stocks significantly to eliminate the dents in the wood! This scrubbed away the darker stock color as they are stained. The stock on this one I'm writing about is quite a bit more "chunky" as in bigger in size than others I've had go through the business. Those were all the dark honey to slightly orange to yellow looking.
I had a chance to compare this one to two others of the same grade that looked new on the wood. Sure enough that confirmed the extensive sanding to me. That and the faded cartouch stampings on the right side of the but. This rifle has only one stamping in the stock and it's deep.
