Ok,
I am looking at one of these guns really hard and have some questions.
This animal: http://www3.mb.sympatico.ca/~jhipwell/eagleflat.htm
1-Parts availability-Are there as many available as for say an AR-15?
2-Mags-I have heard M-14 mags can be modified to work w/this gun, how reliable would they be and what is involved in modifying them?
3-Anyone ever shot one? Opinions?
4-Internals-Same as an AR? Functions pretty much the same way?
5-Another mag question-Since these guns are made by Armalite, would it take the same mags?

That's the exact model that I used to build my Mk11 Mod0 clone with. Here's a pic of my finished rifle:http://www.gunsnet.net/album/data//500/18260AR10-Mk11_clone-Fin.jpg
1:There are quite a few accessories available for the AR10, not quite as many as for the AR15, but some of the parts are interchangeable, such as the trigger group. I installed Knight's match trigger group in my gun and it would also drop right into an AR15.
2:I modified one M14 mag for my AR10 before I purchased some factory AR10 mags, it wasn't hard, I just marked where the hole for the mag catch would be, drilled a hole in each corner and used a file to smooth it up. The only difference is that the M14 follower isn't made to trip the last-round bolt catch.
3:I've put about 40 rounds thru my gun, it's been pretty accurate, but I need to buy some match ammo to truly see what it is capable of.
4:The trigger group is the same as an AR15, but of course the bolt and carrier are different. Functions pretty much the same way, but the last round bolt catch works a little different than an AR15.
5:Yes, the Armalite mags work in the Eagle guns, the guns are made on the same machinery, they just don't have a few of the bells and whistles that the Armalite guns have such as a chrome-lined bore.

I've been really pleased with my Eagle so far!!

I have three AR-10s... These are sweet rifles and extremely accurate. Problems with Mags are normally because someone tried to convert the mag themselves or the rifle is just too new and needed to be used and broken in a little. I love my AR-10s and I don't think I have ever had a failure but I only use decent ammo in mine...

My AR-10T is one of the mst accurate guns I own and it will shoot about 0.7 MOA with 168(?)-gr Federal Gold Metal match ammo...

Quarterbore, just wanted to say thanks for a very informative website!!! I first learned of SWS's tubes from your site. I studied your info for quite a while before I built my AR-10, Thanks again! AKATTACK
