I am about ready to take my Savage to the range to sight it in. But before I go, I'd like to know if there is anything that can be done to improve the trigger pull.
I know on the Marlins, the trigger return spring can be replaced with a lighter one. I'm not sure about the Savage.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, blobman.
You sold me a super nice rifle. Thanks again. I'm anxious to see how it shoots.

It seems they used an odd ball sized allen head screw on the stock screw., Looks like it might be a 4.5mm, or a weird size SAE. I started to remove the stock to look at the trigger group, and don't have the correct size.
Must be a deterrent to keep me out, hehe :naughty:
Oh well.

I've been told the spring from a bic pen can be used in place of the trigger spring but I can't recall if that trick was for the Sav93 or Marlin17...

I think that was for the Marlin.
I looked through my spare gun parts for a spring that might work. I found that the front sight base plunger spring from an AK works great. Trigger pull was lightened considerably, but not to the point of being dangerous.
BIG improvement!!!

BTW, the Savage factory trigger return spring has about the same tension as a disconnecter spring in an AK.
Way too heavy.

Yeah the pall point pen is definatly Marlin. I have found that polishing any triger set usually gives it a smother pull and if you can find the right size spring you can reduce the pull, but as stated make sure not to make it to light...

Since I cannot post links goto savageshooters dot net and click the Articles link, then click the link "Savage Rimfire Modifications."

It is a wonderful step-by-step guide on getting the pull down to about 3-4 lbs with no creep.

Otherwise your looking into either a new sear, or new trigger assembly.

sinclair international (www.sinclairintl.com has repacement triggers for about $ 80 and it is adjustable from 10 oz. to 1.5 lb. I have one in my savage 93r17 and it is very light snd crisp good trigger.

P. S. if you remove the butt plate you can fill it with shot for added weight for benchrest.
