One thing that will help us to define our mission is to determine how we are different from any of the groups that are already out there. For example, what makes us different from the Second Amendment Foundation or the NRA?

I agree with that!
We may be more than a little focused on the 2nd; however, all of them are under attack. We do have to start somewhere so the 2nd is where we are. AND The BATF is out of control.

This is very important.
I suggest that the one thing that makes us different than the established gun rights orgs is that we are a single-purpose, temporary organization that will disolve once the national rally is acheived, or once Ron Paul's bill gets passed - whatever we define as our end-goal.
The point being, we are not looking to start another NRA.
We need to state this (and do this) in order to get their support and participation. If we don't, we will be perceived as a threat or competition to them and their fund-raising. Hate to sound so pragmatic, but its the truth.

I back this position 100%.

The NRA at this point ignores lovers of "assault" weapons, feeling we owe them for defeating the last attempt at the Ban they shot down. They want to focus on Sportsmen, where the money is.
