I'm not trying to start an ammo debate, I just have a question. I have a ccw and my carry is a Taurus PT145. I have 10 rds, I figured 230gr ball would not "Overpenetrate" but am reading a bit and seeing it is within the realm of possibility?
I'm thinking of using CCI Blazer 230gr HP's, they feed really well in the Taurus...but what doesn't?
All opinions welcome.

The 45 ball ammo WILL overpenetrate, if that is what you are worried about. It just keeps on going, and keeps on going...
While some say it's effective, I would rather use hollowpoints. A good article in this month's "Shooting" magazine about hunting with handguns, the author states that the 45 ball ammo does minimal damage, and slips through tissue without creating a large wound channel. Not something desireable. I would go with hollowpoints, no matter what brand.
And hollowpoints, due to expansion and large flat nose, won't penetrate as much as ball ammo. But expect a 45 to go slap through anybody you happen to shoot with, it's not a wimp.

I would not suggest ball for defense. In a pinch or if you need the extra penetration (like in responding to a drive-by) then ball is the way to go. But for normal everyday carry I would suggest 225 or 230 grain hollowpoints. For the short time I did carry a "compact" .45 I learned using the lighter, faster bullet loads in that shot barrel were a waste of time and money. ;)
