I am an AR noobie and looking to get a CMP type AR but I really don't want to shell oput $1000. So I found a kit from J&T Distributing (http://www.jtdistributing.com/) for $600 that has an A2 upper, free float handguards, and a 2 stage trigger. All I need is the lower and my local gun store had a Hesse stripped lower for $110. Does anyone have any experience with Hesse lowers? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'd pass on the Hesse lower. It could be just fine, I have an FAL built on a Hesse reciever and it's great. But your resale value is going to plumit. For $110 I think you could fine a stripped lower from severl other manufactures. Good luck, and let us know what you find. ;)

Thanks for the advice Rew. Well I was pretty dissappointed when I went to the gun store and checked out the Hesse. The lower was "carbon-fiber" but it felt and looked like a cheap piece of plastic, and there's no way in hell that I am buying it. I saw what looked like a good deal for a Stag lower today, anyone know anything about them? Sorry for being such a noob when it comes to ARs and thanks in advance.

From what Ive heard the Stag lowers are very nice, I just ordered 2 myself.
Check these guys out they have pretty good prices on the Stag lowers.

Just checked out Eagle's website and they have stripped Stag's for $85! But I also found a RRA A2 lower half w/ 2 stage trigger for $285. Sounds pretty good to me. I also see a DPMS preban A-2 20" DCM-CMP upper with bolt on GunBroker for $450. So I think I will get the RRA lower half and combine it with the DPMS to make my bargain CMP gun. Total including shipping and transfer fee should be about $785. Thanks for all your help guys!

Hesse is horrible. It's the lowest of low's on the firearm quality ladder. I wouldn't buy a fu**ing hacksaw from them if they made one.
