Century has M95/34 Steyr Mannlicher Carbine, Cal. 8x56R in good condition for $55 dollars.
Is this a good buy?
Is the ammo expensive?
Is the M95/34 superior to the M95?
I don't know much about these guns, and would like some input.

zouave,
If it was the ones graded as VG you might want to take a look at it but IMO avoid anything they grade as good. Liable to have a sold plug of rust for a bore.
Next issue with these rifles is that the ammo now available is very very expensive like .28 / round. A year ago it was a dime a round. Century was the importer and they ran out just about a year ago.
So the ammo isn't exactly one of the easier rounds to get.
If you want a cool straight pull bolt action get one of those Shooter Grade K31 Schmidt-Rubens from AIM. At least there is ammo available that is reloadable. Bullet size will be easy too because they use a .308 to .309 bore. The Swiss themselves make a grade of berdan primed Match ammo and they use Sierra Match Kings, 168 gr. weight in them. I got a box of these when I was over there.

Yeah get the K-31. I have cleaned up the $109. "shooter" grade rifle I bought a few days ago and the thing looks almost as good as the one I paid $180. for. The biggest difference in the grades is the wood.
