I have been building ARs since before the ban. I have bought parts from a lot of vendors from the Cow Palace to KCMO. The most recent buys though were completely opposite and gave me pause to think about how good iy is to find and stick with a good vendor.
Recently I had real good results getting some 6.8 rem uppers from Model 1 sales. I had the delivery in a week.
On the flip side I had a very rude dealing with Jeff Ellis at Jeff's Shooter Supply in AL. After ordering a couple of lower receivers from him, he became oboxious when I asked him to confirm the ship date he promised, and give me a tracking number:
first off you are not the ffl holder and i do not care what you want. i did not sell you anything the receiver where sold to an ffl dealer.
second the lower are in transit and on time
third i do not give a damn...
do not e-mail me again
Holy smoke. This fellow is deluded to think that the check I sent him somehow makes me a lowly citizen and not a Big Deall FFL holder. I'm not going to tell you not to buy from him or anyone else; but I do believe that when you give you money to a dealer, they ought to respect you enough to answer questions about the order without losing it.
I used to hold an FFL and a a businessman I never would dream about talking to a customer like this- I guess that is a function of email business- you're not face-to-face or on the phone, say anything you damn well please.
Find a dealer who does "give a damn".
