17 HMR Bad Cases? Faulty Gun?

Recently purchased a Taurus pump chambered in 17 HMR. I have shot two boxes of CCI ammo and two boxes of Hornady ammo in it so far. (not all bought at the same time) The second box of Hornady ammo shot identical to the other 3 boxes until the 47th round. It blew out the back where the firing pin struck it. Upon inspection of the other spent cases they are swelled out around where the firing pin struck them. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I plan to take the gun to a gunsmith before shooting it again.

I've had swollen bases from a .22 AR conversion and I suspect it's the chamber slightly out of spec, so I think it's certainly a possibility on your Taurus.

Have the smith make a chamber casting and see how it compares to the factory specs.
