Has anyone heard of a test on the AR using the AK round is it accurate or is it no good. I know there are those who are diehard 223 guys and putting an AK round through the AR just pisses them off, just the facts thats all I am asking thanks.

The problem with the 7.62x39 cartridge relies on what ammo the majority of 7.62x39 users actually put through their rifles.

If you stick Wolf .223 ammo through an AR-15, it's accuracy will dwindle to that of an AK. If you stick premium ammo through an AR-15, it will surpass the AK. I've never put premium ammo through an AK, because it's hard to find in bulk and for a decent price.

If you were to stick premium 7.62x39 ammo in an AR-15, I'm sure it would be an accurate plinker.

The problem isn't the accuracy, it's reliability and magazine availability. Most 7.62x39 uppers aren't the most reliable creatures. This is in part due to the magazines. One person had a great idea to make a lower that accepted AK47 style magazines, but the thing that ruined the deal for him, was he was a prick who couldn't take critisism and his growning business ceased to grow. If something doesn't work right and your customers tell you it doesn't work right... the common sense thing would be to fix it ;)

But enough of that. It is possible to find a reliable 7.62x39 upper. It is possible to make it accurate. Odds are your magazine choices will limit you to 10 to 15 rounds, and they'll cost an arm and a leg. ( General neighborhood of 30$ a pop )

I usually just advise people to use the caliber the platform was designed for. Makes things easier ;) ... the exception would be the pistol calibers. Those look fun :D

I'm the proud owner of a Model 1 kit-gun in the dredded ComBlok caliber & it behaves pretty well! It's still new and a bit sticky! That said, I use the 10-rnd mags also offered by Model 1 & they are pretty darned good! :) All cards face up: I wouldn't take it to war or otherwise bet me life on it, at least not yet! Like I said, it's still too new! Accuracy-wise, out to about 100 - 125m: look for 1.5moa using (horror of horrors!!!) Wolf poly or Llapua. Folks, lighten up on the Wolf stuff! It' dirty. That's the worst thing anyone can honestly criticize the stuff for. And their 154gr. stuff is an absolute hammer on short-range deer, hogs, (ferrel cats!!!) etc. Beyond that range - it's 7.62X39 for crying out loud. A Commie 30/30! Hey, I wouldn't want to be out at that range with somebody mad at me and armed with that thing!!!

At least that's my experience. YMMV!!! ;)

I use Wolf for nearly 75% of my shooting ;)

I was not bashing it, but merely stating the truth.

I have a DPMS 7.62x39 AR and it works well but only with federal ammo, it wont work with wolf or any other non American 7.62.
I was lucky enough to buy a dozen of the USA mags when they were going for $18 a piece they work good, most of the time.
