What are the rules on making your own .22 design? What are the standards? Any advice on making my own gun?

The ATF states (and don't quote me) that you can make your own gun as long as it meets all ATF standards and you do not sell it (or else you are a manufacturer). So check your local laws and check the ATF laws for a gun (no machine guns).
