If you ever had to guess the hold-over while hunting,
you know how many times you've misjudged by either
shooting over or under your target.
I know I got tried of missing game because of this.
I began looking for a solution and found the perfect answer.
The BSA Sweet 17 3-12x40 w/AO is a godsend.
Optics are crisp and clear through all the power ranges.
Its now mounted on my Savage 93R17-FV.
I sighted the scope in @ 100yds.
I then measured off 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300yds.
The stated feature of the Sweet 17
is that when sighted in at 100yds.,
the elevation can then be dialed to the above yardage,
and be dead on.
The elevation knob is marked 100 thru 300 yds.
Sandbagging it off the back of the truck.
I began testing. Conditions were clear skies, 65 degrees,
and ZERO wind.
At 100 yds., the 3 shot group was less than an inch.
I turned the knob to 150 and fired another 3 shot group.
The group open up to about an inch, and the POI was dead on.
I continued through the yardage settings, and all were DEAD ON.
Naturally the groups opened up as the distance increased,
but all were in the kill zone.
I think this is going to be the best accessory for the Savage 17
that one can buy. A range finder is now in my future. :big:
