I'm feeling lonely out here. Anybody get a visit from the BBT? I saw one post over at gunboards from a guy who got one. He said it wasn't like new it was new. Said his receiver cover, bolt carrier, bolt were rough. His Romanian SKS had better workmanship. My receiver and all metal surfaces are very nicely blued and nothing rough about them. My bolt and carrier are the some way only in the white. Anyone else got one?

Get plenty of degreaser. These things are literally swimming in relatively fresh cosmo. I'm used to the older milsurps that have dried out a little bit. The grenade launcher and sight are a bitch to clean. I used mineral spirits on the metal. Melts this stuff right off. At least I'm down to metal after the first bath. Before that it was all grease. I was surprised after everything I read that the bore is chromed. I like that feature. I just put hte first coat of BLO on the wood. It is the nicest, mellowest yellow I've seen. I think I'll name her "Old Mellow". The handguard is difinetly going to be darker. I think the contrast will be nice. My MAs 49/56 has a different shade on all three pieces of wood and it really catches your eye. Not in a "Fuck me to tears. What's that thing" sort of way though. I brought home a digicam from work so maybe I can get her ready by Sunday and post some pics Monday. Shawn, you're fucked either way you look at it. Your getting a C&R. If everything goes OK you'll get a nice one of these and one of those and another one of those, etc, etc. No rest for the wicked and no money for the Cruffler. We'll all die broke but well armed.;) Good luck on these guys.

Yeah Shaun and The BigCA- when I first got my license, "All I wanted it for was to save transfer fees on A Romanian SKS and A M44 and A Mauser."
8 months later I have 11 M44's, 4 Romanian SKS and about 6 Mausers. I've given in to the dark side and I like it.

REDSTAR is right on the money. I got my C&R May of 2000. I got into AK's, pistols and other modern firearms until June of this year. I have always had firearms but usually got one fromthe wife for Xmas of a birthday. In fact I think she's gottn me something like 10 guns over the years, including my first AK. Anyway I just looked in my bound book and I've made 11 C&R purchases since June. Ammo purchases to feed my arsenal have exceeded 13,000 rds to date and that's not counting .22lr. If I get below 1K in any given caliber I start shopping. The bright side is my wife no longer thinks my 77 Trans Am is a money pit. She would rather see me with a JC Whitney catalog in my hand than a copy of SGN. If we are part of a culture as Henry Bowman says in the book, Unintended Consequences, then we Crufflers are the historians of that culture. We have a job to do so get out that CC and get to work. :p
