Is there a feasible way to build a semi PPsh-41 or 43 or Suomi from the kits? I know it would need to be SBR'ed or use a longer barrel but I can wait on SBR if I knew it was a do-able project.
Anyone?

Would be great if it was possible.
I would just LOVE to have a PPSH, even as a semi.

It's a damned shame that the fedz did the ruling on open-bolt semis back in '81. there would be alot more kick ass stuff being manufactured and that individuals could manufacture themselves.
I had one of the semiauto SSR-41s that used to be sold before they figured out they can't make them work correctly. When I got it, it worked 0% of the time and when I got rid of it she was hitting about 90% of the time. It misfired and jammed too much for me unfortunately.

The SSR41 were crap as we all know.. the biggest problem with them was the mags
did not match the gun.. the origional PPSH had its mags hand fitted to the gun
Im still looking to find a SSR that can be bought cheaply .... every one i have ran across was in excess of $1000.00
True the open bolt conversion to a closed bolt is a pain and not to reliable
as with any converted tube gun ,i've never seen any that ran very well

I'm still looking at my parts kit, and I realize it will be more trouble to do a semi-auto than an AK, but WTH I'm going to do it.
I want to check out the possibility of using a SKS tirgger housing/FCG in a semi-auto. I know the hammer will have to be shorten to clear the recoil spring. I can see using the rear 1/4 inch of the bolt for mounting a firing pin in, with the hammer striking the lower portion. This portion of the bolt combined with the firing pin will be heavy, so a firing pin spring will need to be used to prevent slam fires.
A 80% blank receiver and barrel trunion can be purchased form Coldsteel Solutions.
The rear sight base is riveted to the DEWAT receiver, so no problem here. The front sight base will be a little harder to transfer to the new receiver, but it is doable. The front barrel support and recoil washer are transferable with a little effort and some TIG welding.
If I build a 16" barrel carbine instead of a SBR, I plan on modifing the front of the receiver to support the barrel like the Chinese did with their Vietnam Era copy of the PPSH-41. Their copy had a metal sliding stock with the receiver griping the barrel like four pointed fingers, and a SKS type front sight assembly on the barrel.
I view the whole build as a learning experience.

There is a group buy on weaponeer for a Hungarian PPSH, and it still has its trunion and magwell intact for an easier semi build. It aslo comes with a drum mag and all the accessories.
1-50 $145
51-100 $135

If the trunion is indeed complete, and the parts kit is excellent or better, then it is truly a better deal than Centerfire Systems has.
I would like to see an answer from someone who has purchased the parts kit you are talking about, as to the trunion condition and the quality of the parts kit.
