1. Gave him my last Bersa thunder and $100.00. He was overjoyed. Damn Fool. I told him it wasnt worth much cause you couldnt get ammo for it. He was dissappointed but walked with his NIB .380 with a smile. I am going to leave her just as she is. Markings are of the Imperial Eagle and the crown. I will post pics after Thanksgiving. This Gun was prior to German Unification and the war was fought at the direction of Otto Von Bismark.
2. I should feel bad but I never really liked him anyway.

I have never seen one in person. I did see one on Tales of the Gun History Channel.
It fires with a sort of needle. It puntures the propellent and fires the bullet. It had some problems with the needle type firing pin being worn down over time due to being in the burning propellent.
I think thats what they said anyway I am going on memory.
Cool find way to go.:D

1. The short version: The "needlegun" (Zundnadelgewehr) was a bolt action, breechloading rifle invented by Nicholas Dreyse and used by the Prussians against the French in the Franco-Prussian war. The rifle used a paper cartridge which contained from front to rear, the bullet, the primer/percussion cap and the powder. When the trigger was pulled, a long needle inside the bolt was driven forward to strike the percussion cap, setting off the propellant. The real break-through with this system was the turnbolt locking system.
2. Basically the needlgun was the forerunner of the mauser and other bolt action rifles. Her only true drawback was paper cartridge which failed when wet or damp.
3. My brother-in-law inherited it from a German ancestor and having had it in his attic in PA for 20 years decided he wanted to get rif of it. I told him to bring in Thanksgiving and if it was worth anything I would take it.

1. I recently put an M-48 Mauser up on the mantle to show it off. It will now be placed in my Gun Case in the den and My Old venerable Needlegun will go up in it's place. I will post pics as soon as company leaves. My brother-in-law is still here. I dont want him to see how excited I am.
