20 gauge single

Have a 20 single shot. Top of barrell is stamped-20 gauge choke bore barrell and lug forged in one--. Their are no other markings on the barrell, not that I can find. Above the trigger on left side is stamps U S. The letters are incircled by a horizontal figure 8, above the U S is stamped "made in" below is stamped US. Serial # on trigger guard. Can find no other markings anywhere. Believe it to be one of those cheap shotguns sold by any hardware store ETC. that wanted their stamp on them? Thanks
